Good news for NBA

The NBA started with the idea of a parallel league for development in 2002, and so the NBA Development league or D-league was created.

The NBA is looking for expansion with different methods, including European expansion, which will bring 5 teams from the old continent to compete for the NBA championship, so it will be more frequent to see players from Spain or Italy playing for USA teams or vice versa.

Players like Rafer Alston and Gerald Green who currently players for the Houston Rockets have taken part of the D-League.

The league is supported by NBA teams, and each team has 12 players on their roster: 10 D-leaguers and 2 NBA’s

There is really not a legacy of champions at the D-League, since there have been different winners each year, with the exception of the Asheville Altitude whom went for two straight titles from 2003 to 2005.

With the D-League, The NBA is looking to allow more minutes to NBA basketball players that otherwise will be benched during most of the regular season, and so when they go back to the NBA, they will be in better physically and mentally to asume the challenges to come.

This just means good news for hoops fans in general, including myself…
